Netflix has finally released the trailer of its film, Mrs Serial Killer. This comes close on the heels of the first look of its leading stars, Manoj Bajpayee and Jacqueline Fernandez.
Most serial killers that we have seen in films or on television are shown to be cold-blooded psychopaths, who enjoy killing people. But the trailer proves that this story about a serial killer is quite unlike anything we have seen before. It tells the story of a woman who turns into a serial killer to save her husband.
There is a serial killer on the loose, who is murdering young girls. The investigation into the murders is headed by Mohit Raina, who plays a police inspector. Raina, who was previously married to Fernandez, bears a grudge against her for dumping him and marrying a doctor, played by Bajpayee. When the police find it difficult to catch the real killer, Raina frames Bajyapee for the murders and arrests him.
When the court denies Bajpayee bail, Fernandez decides to take matters into her own hand and sets out committing a crime exactly like the serial killer, in order to prove her husband's innocence.
Fernandez, who is known more for her acrobatic dance skills than her acting, looks promising in the role of the wife. The actress hasn't had many opportunities to show her acting talent, but Mrs Serial Killer could be exactly what she needs.
The trailer of Mrs Serial Killer suggests that there will be a lot of violence in the film. Though it's not clearly stated, from the trailer it seems like the film is set in a north Indian state like Himachal Pradesh or Uttarakhand. The serene beauty of the place is a stark contrast to the film's violent theme.
The film is directed by Shirish Kunder, who is not known for making violent films. In fact, his last film Joker (2012) was a comedy. But he has made a psychological thriller, Kriti (2016), a short film which also featured Bajpayee in the lead.
Mrs Serial Killer will premiere on Netflix from 1 May. Watch the trailer below and let us know if you are keen to watch the film.
