In the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, film festivals are adapting to the new environment, as most of the talent involved is stuck at home in most countries. Over the holiday weekend, the Miami International Science Fiction Film Festival was held virtually, with opening film Cargo, directed by Arati Kadav, picking up four wins as its awards were announced.
Kadav’s directorial debut won Best Sci-Fi Feature and the Audience Choice award. The film’s leads, Vikrant Massey and Shweta Tripathi, also picked runner up honours respectively for Best Actor and Best Actress.
The film’s wins were announced on Twitter by Kadav and producer Anurag Kashyap.

Cargo was also scheduled to be screened at the SXSW (South by Southwest) Film Festival in March. The American festival was cancelled and its winners were later announced online.
