Producer Sangeeta Ahir and her son Krrish Ahir, under their banner Sangeeta Ahir Moviez, have pledged to support the daily-wage workers of the film industry in Mumbai, who have been affected by the ongoing lockdown because of the coronavirus pandemic.

They made the announcement yesterday in the presence of Aaditya Thackeray, Mahahrashtra minister of tourism, environment and protocol and Yuva Sena president. Sangeeta's husband, politician Sachin Ahir and actor Ankush Chaudhari were also present on the occasion.

Commenting on the same, Sangeeta said, “In times of crisis, it is crucial that the film fraternity stand together and support one another. Daily-wage workers form the backbone of our industry, and have helped turn our city into the nation’s entertainment capital. Now it is our turn to extend our support. With this move, we will present a united front against this global threat.”

On the work front, Sangeeta Ahir Moviez has the Marathi movie Dagadi Chawl 2 currently in the making. The film is the sequel of Dagadi Chawl (2015), which starred Ankush Chaudhari, Makarand Deshpande and Pooja Sawant in pivotal roles.

Like the Ahir family, recently prominent actors from Marathi cinema like Subodh Bhave and Sushant Shelar also took an initiative to help the daily-wage workers of the film as well as Marathi theatre industry.
