With the COVID-19 (novel coronavirus disease) pandemic spreading across the world, the entertainment industry, like almost all other aspects of life, has come to a standstill. With ample time on hand, each person has been trying different ways to keep herself or himself occupied during the lockdown.
Actress Richa Chadha, who is known for her offbeat choice of film roles, has been putting the lockdown period to good use. Dividing her time between household chores, working out, reading and writing, the actress has managed to keep herself busy.
Since the lockdown was first announced on 24 March by prime minister Narendra Modi, Chadha has been taking a couple of hours out every day to develop a script with the help of her friends.
Talking about how she started writing, the actress said, “It all started with penning down a few thoughts. Soon it became an interesting concept that I thought I would like to develop.” She said the script is a comedy, a genre in which Chadha has excelled.
"The fact that all our lives have come to a screeching halt has made me contemplate the fragility of human existence," she said. "I want to write something that focuses on why people should prioritize what is necessary. Too often we are all so busy chasing things that we forget to spare a thought for ourselves and what really matters to us. It has been bottled up within me for a long time and the entire lockdown phase has accelerated my creative side. I am just putting together the skeletal structure and will then start looking for a screenplay writer.”
The 33-year-old was supposed to get married this month to long-time boyfriend and actor Ali Fazal. But with the lockdown in place, those plans have also had to be put on hold.
