A number of film celebrities have come forward to help those who have been affected by the COVID-19 (novel coronavirus disease) lockdown, including daily-wage workers from the industry.
Earlier in the week, Khan donated to the PM CARES Fund and the Maharashtra Chief Minister's Relief Fund. Just a couple of days ago, Sonu Sood opened up his Juhu hotel, Shakti Sagar, for health-care workers to reside in during their fight against the pandemic.
After donating Rs25 crore to the PM CARES Fund, actor Akshay Kumar donated Rs3 crore to the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) to assist in making available personal protective equipment (PPE), masks and rapid testing kits.
On the work front, Aamir Khan had been shooting for his keenly awaited film, Laal Singh Chaddha (2020) when all work was suspended on account of the lockdown. Also starring Kareena Kapoor Khan and Vijay Sethupathi, the film is the official Hindi remake of the Hollywood classic Forrest Gump (1994). It is being directed by Advait Chandan, who had made his directorial debut with Khan’s production, Secret Superstar (2017).
