Actor Prashant Narayanan arrested in a cheating case

Actor Prashant Narayanan and his wife have been arrested and sent to judicial custody for their alleged involvement in a cheating case, according to an IANS report. Prashant was picked up by the Kerala police on Sunday. 

Prashant has been part of several films like Waisa Bhi Hota Hai Part II (2003), Murder 2 (2011) and PM Narendra Modi (2019). According to the IANS report, the actor had allegedly convinced producer Thomas Panicker to invest Rs1.20 crore in a company owned by his father-in-law on the promise that Panicker would be made director of the company. 

The daily Mumbai Mirror quoted an official as saying that the arrest was made on the basis of a complaint filed by Panicker. Both Prashant and his wife were brought to Kerala under transit custody and presented before the Thalassery additional judicial magistrate's court. The magistrate remanded both in judicial custody till 20 September. 

Prashant Narayanan has been a part of around 50 films in Hindi, Tamil and Telugu. The actor was last seen playing an industrialist in the Omung Kumar film, PM Narendra Modi (2019).
