The first look of Queen, an upcoming web-series based on the life of former Tamil Nadu chief minister and actress J Jayalalithaa, was unveiled on Saturday, 7 September. The poster features Ramya Krishnan posing as Jayalalithaa from her heyday.
The web-series, a production of MX Player, has been jointly directed by Gautham Vasudev Menon and Prasath Murugesan, who directed Kidaari (2016).
The show will categorize Jayalalithaa’s life into three segments, focusing on her life as a school girl, a teenager and the phase when she joined politics, taking over MG Ramachandran’s place following his demise.
The rest of the cast and crew are yet to be officially announced; however, there are rumours doing the rounds that actor Arvind Swamy has been roped in to play of MGR.
First season of the show has 11 episodes. Gautham and Prasath have directed five episodes each. While one episode has been jointly directed by both of them. Apparently, Prasath has directed the younger, teenage portions of Jayalalithaa; while Gautham Menon has directed the portion where she entered politics.
It is yet unknown when the show will be released. However, it is believed that MX Player has already given their nod for the second season.
Meanwhile, Gautham currently has two projects in his kitty. He has a film titled Joshua: Koolipadai with actor Varun in the pipeline. He also has a yet-untitled film will be bankrolled by Lyca Productions.
In a recent media interaction while promoting his upcoming release Enai Noki Paayum Thota (2019), Gautham confirmed that a project with Suriya is in the offing. However, he refused to divulge more details as he felt it should come from the makers.
