Nitesh Tiwari's slice-of-life drama, Chhichhore, may have caught the critic's eye, but the film ended its opening day at the box office with a low score of Rs7 crore nett, according to BoxOfficeIndia.com. The film's collection comes close to the numbers of Sushant Singh Rajput's Kedarnath (2018).

The film might see improved collection on the weekend, with the positive buzz around it. The low budget of the film, about Rs50 crore, also works in its favour. With Ganeshotsav in Maharashtra and some other states and Muharram, it is no surprise that the first-day collection is on the lower side.

Meanwhile, the Prabhas-starrer Saaho continued its good run in Hindi, adding Rs3.5 crore nett on its second Friday. This takes the film's total to Rs118.50 crore. Surprisingly, the film's performance in the Southern markets is a contrast. According to BoxOfficeIndia.com, the film registered Rs5.25 crore nett in all-India collection across languages on Friday. This implies that the film only managed to collect less than Rs2 crore from its southern audience. This is a very poor return for a Telugu film.

Made on a budget of Rs350 crore, Saaho is one of the most expensive films created in Telugu cinema. The film's global collection stands at Rs261.75 crore, and might need quite a push to reach the Rs300 crore mark.

Correction, 10 September: Chhichhore's budget was wrongly reported as Rs70 crore in an earlier version of this report.
