New Excelsior Mukta A2 Cinemas wins Best Single-Screen Theatre of the Year Award

The heritage cinema property was awarded the honour at the IMAX Big Cine Awards 2019 in Mumbai at the end of August.

The theatre chain, Mukta A2 Cinemas, picked up the Best Single-Screen Theatre of the Year award for its heritage property New Excelsior at the Big Cine Expo, IMAX Big Cine Awards 2019.

The theatre, which originally began as a drama theatre, Novelty, in 1887, is situated in Fort, Mumbai. It was refurbished and relaunched by Mukta A2 Cinemas in February 2017. The single-screen theatre, fitted with the latest modern amenities, can seat 596, and has the largest curved screen in the country.

The IMAX Big Cine Awards 2019 was held at the Bombay Exhibition Centre in Mumbai on 27 and 28 August. The two-day event, the second largest in Asia, is India’s only convention and trade show for the single-screen, multiplex and allied businesses.
