The poster of a new film is supposed to grab the audience’s attention. But the poster of the upcoming Marathi movie AB Ani CD stuns you. It has veteran actor Vikram Gokhale impersonating Amitabh Bachchan! Yes, you read that right.
Gokhale is seen wearing Bachchan’s costume from his iconic song ‘Sara Zamana Haseeno Ka Deewana’ from the film Yaarana (1981). This means Gokhale, in dark glasses, wears a similar jacket to Bachchan's Yaarana character with lit bulbs from top to bottom. What makes the image stand apart is the scarf along with the typical Bachchan pose.
Gokhale, over the decades, has acquired this image of a serious actor because of the roles he has played. So, to see him carry out something as quirky and funny is a huge surprise. It will be interesting to see how he mouths Bachchan’s famous dialogues.
AB Ani CD also has an appearance from the real Bachchan himself. He is seen in the background of the poster. In fact, the word ‘AB’ in the title refers to Bachchan’s initials. The word ‘CD’ are the initials of Gokhale’s character Chandrakant Deshpande.
This is the second time that Bachchan is appearing in a Marathi film after Akka (1994), where he and wife Jaya Bachchan appeared in the song ‘Tu Jagati Adhipati'.
Directed by Milind Lele and produced by Akshay Bardapurkar, AB Ani CD also stars Subodh Bhave, Sayali Sanjeev and Akshay Tanksale.
