Vineet Kumar Singh’s upcoming film is titled Aadhaar. As per the name, the film is based on the Aadhaar card, which every Indian resident is required to have as an identity proof. This is clear from the interesting first poster of the film.

It has a quirky image of Singh at the end of a long, meandering line of Aadhaar cards. He is dressed as a common man, in travelling clothes along with a jacket and a bag. His body language and expression hints that he is caught in some problem and is looking to get out of it.

Aadhaar will have its world premiere at the Busan International Film Festival (BIFF) this year. The film’s producers Drishyam Films shared the news and revealed the subject of the film.

"Meet Pharsua, the first person from his village to enrol for a card that can ru(i)n his life! Here's the first look of Aadhaar, a dramedy directed by National Award Winner Suman Ghosh. We're delighted to have our world premiere at the 24th Busan Film Fest!," their tweet said.

Aadhaar is directed by the National award-winning Bengali filmmaker Suman Ghosh. This is his Hindi film debut. He has made quite a few Bengali films along with a documentary on Nobel laureate Amartya Sen, which ran into controversy after the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) objected to some portions in it.

During a chat with us last year, Singh had explained the subject of the film. “Taking a cue from the film’s title Aadhaar, there are two aspects to it — one: it means base and the other is the Aadhaar card and we are exploring both these aspects among many other things that are happening in our society,” he had said.
