Karan Johar introduces Lakshya in Dostana 2, will team up with Kartik Aaryan, Janhvi Kapoor

There have been numerous speculations and unconfirmed reports about Dostana 2 since a decade. But in June, producer Karan Johar announced the sequel to Dostana (2008), which starred Abhishek Bachchan, John Abraham and Priyanka Chopra.

He also revealed that Kartik Aaryan and Janhvi Kapoor will be teaming up for the film. To complete the trio, Johar broke the news that a newcomer named Lakshya will be launched in the film. Before you ask, let us clarify that he doesn’t belong to a filmi family. 

Sharing the news, Johar told the newspaper Hindustan Times, “All of us in Dharma believe in introducing new talent to the film fraternity. We are proud to have introduced over 20 first-time filmmakers and over seven actors in the recent past. We are excited to introduce our newest addition to the Dharma family, Lakshya. We will be introducing him in our franchise Dostana 2, alongside the lead cast of Kartik Aaryan and Janhvi Kapoor.” 

The filmmaker also added that the newcomer had to go through a challenging process in order to be selected for the film. “Lakshya has been chosen after a series of auditions and test shoots. We are thrilled to include him in our creative world and look forward to creating celluloid magic together,” Johar added. 

Funnily enough, Johar and his production house have this image of launching star kids. So, as soon as the news about Lakshya was out, social media went rampage on asking if he is from a film family. Johar had to clarify that he isn’t. “Yes I woke up to several inquiries asking about his film industry connections!!! He is NOT from the business and went through a legit audition process !! Am grateful to Shanoo Sharma for introducing LAKSHYA to,” he wrote on Twitter. 

Johar was referring to casting director Shanoo Sharma who brought the actor to Dharma Productions Prior to his film debut, Lakshya has acted in television serials like Porus.
