MAMI 2019: Axone, Sindhustan announced as India Story selections

A total of 13 films have been chosen for the section that highlights diversity from around the country.

After announcing the opening film of the 21st edition, the Malayalam film, Moothon, directed by Geetu Mohandas, the Mumbai Film Festival has revealed the 13 films in its India Story section.  

The announcement was made late last night by the festival's social media handles.

This section of the festival features films in the Indian languages of Khasi, Punjabi, Marathi, and many others. India Story highlights diversity and brings forward films from various regions of the country.

These include Nitin Bhaskar's Kaajro, Nicholas Kharkongor's Axone, Fahim Irshad's Aani Maani, Sunit Sinha's Ranj (Slow Burn), Sapna Bhavnani's documentary Sindhustan, Vinod Kamble's Kastoori (The Musk), and Siddharth Tripathy's A Dog And His Man.

Other titles are Pradip Kurbah's Lewduh (Market), Rajkumar Laxmanrao Tangade's Chivti, Chandrasish Ray's Nirontor (The Prologue), Nithin Anil's Jaduche Ghost (A Thing of Magic), Aryan Biju Baruah's Last Headhunters of the Nagas, and Dr Ajit Suryakant Wadikar's Y.

The festival will be held from 17 to 24 October.
