Sayantan Ghosal’s Satyanweshi Byomkesh teaser prepares the audience to watch a story from the Byomkesh Bakshi series with a different approach than the way the Byomkesh stories have been presented so far. Featuring Parambrata Chatterjee as the iconic Bengali sleuth for the first time, Satyanweshi Byomkesh is based on Saradindu Bandyopadhyay’s story Mognomainak.
Satyanweshi Byomkesh also features Rudranil Ghosh, Gargi Roy Chowdhury, Suprobhat Das and Anjan Dutt in important roles.
The teaser doesn’t reveal Byomkesh’s look entirely. While he gives a hint to the backdrop and approach of the plot with a narration, his profile largely remains in silhouette.
Satyanweshi Byomkesh seems to be based on a period of political turmoil in Bengal, but in the teaser, the exact time period has not been mentioned.
Byomkesh’s narration sets the ambience of the story by stating that politics is deeply involved in each of his cases but his companion Ajit (Ghosh), who keeps accounts of all his cases in the form of stories, chooses not to disclose them for security issues and also, in Ajit’s opinion, readers are more content with reading the stories when they are presented as human drama loaded with emotions of jealousy, revenge and lust.
However, Satyanweshi Byomkesh attempts to break that trend. There are flashbacks of unrest in the teaser, coupled with some glimpses featuring Ajit, Dutt, Roy Chowdhury and Das. Interestingly, besides Ajit, the rest are seen to be holding guns in different situations.
The official poster, filled with the imageries of war, too gives away certain hints regarding the plot.
Satyanweshi Byomkesh is slated for release during Puja this October.
