Prabhas’s mega action thriller Saaho, made on a whopping budget of Rs350 crore, has grossed Rs300 crore worldwide in just four days since its release, trade sources have revealed.

According to trade analyst Trinath, Saaho has grossed around Rs300 crore in its opening weekend, but its fate will be decided on how it fares at the ticket windows through the week.

“It is important for Saaho to sustain the momentum at the box office," Trinath said. "However, going by the scathing reviews and very mediocre word-of-mouth, it will be very difficult for Saaho to perform well for long. Therefore, it is crucial the film does well this week to end up as a safe bet for the makers.”

Box office: Saaho (Hindi) has good first Monday, Mission Mangal's positive run continues

Saaho, directed by Sujeeth, is Prabhas’s first release since Baahubali: The Conclusion (2017). The film has been mostly shot abroad on a huge budget and features action sequences that have never been seen before in an Indian film.

Saaho also stars Shraddha Kapoor, Arun Vijay, Jackie Shroff and Mandira Bedi. The project marks the Southern debut of Kapoor, who is seen in an action-packed role.

In a recent interview with The Times of India newspaper, Prabhas opened up on the experience of working in Saaho and said he does not want to do another big-scale film for the next five years.

“Post-Baahubali, I wanted to do a nice love story, but I didn’t get the right script. In the interim, director Sujeeth offered me this script, which was an out-and-out action film,” he said. Prabhas added that he did not expect the film to take two years.

After Baahubali, I didn’t know what to do, says Prabhas

“Doing such big films does put pressure on you," the star admitted. "In fact, I don’t want to do big films for at least another five years. With big films, the budget is high and a lot of things need to be in place. I don’t want to take such pressure for every film.”

Following Saaho's release, Prabhas will begin shooting for his next Telugu project with director Radha Krishna Kumar. Dubbed Prabhas 20, the film is rumoured to be a period romantic drama and will co-star Pooja Hegde.
