Want to make Don 3 as soon as possible, says producer Ritesh Sidhwani

The Excel Entertainment co-founder set out to clear the air on the Shah Rukh Khan-starrer and left it just as confounded.

When is Shah Rukh Khan’s Don 3 going to be made? The question has fuelled speculation in the entertainment media ever since Don 2 (2011) was released. Even earlier this year, some reports said Don 3 was being shelved while others said Ranveer Singh was being considered for the project.

Similarly, there was a fresh murmur recently about the film. This was pointed out to producer Ritesh Sidhwani, co-founder of Excel Entertainment, at a panel discussion at the tenth Jagran Film Festival in Mumbai.

He initially laughed it off: “Yesterday I did something on Fukrey kids show. There I got this question. But I wasn’t expecting it today. Like you said, it’s a rumour right now. Till I see a script, it will remain a rumour.”

However, Sidhwani and his team are eager to make the third film in the franchise. “Do we want to do it? Yes, we want to get a Don 3 out there as soon as possible. But as you know, Don ko pakadna mushkil hi nahin naamumkin hai. So, that’s where we are [right now],” he said.

Directed by Farhan Akhtar, Don (2006) was a remake of Chandra Barot’s blockbuster Don (1978), which starred Amitabh Bachchan. Don 2 was the sequel that took the story of Don (2006) ahead. Both films did well at the box office.
