Jhalki's release postponed to 14 Nov, Children's Day

Director Brahmanand S Singh’s Jhalki was all set for release in theatres tomorrow until the makers decided at almost the last minute to shift the release to Children’s Day, 14 November.

Jhalki features two kids, Aarti Jha and Goraksha Sakpal, in the lead. It is the story of a girl in search of her brother who has been kidnapped by a child-trafficking ring.

The film also features Sanjay Suri, Tannishtha Chatterjee, Boman Irani, Joy Sengupta and Govind Namdev. Irani’s character is based on well-known social activist Kailash Satyarthi, who won the Noble Peace Prize in 2014 for his efforts to combat child trafficking.

During the film's trailer launch, Irani spoke about how he went about playing a character based on Satyarthi. “I feel if I don't talk in Kailashji’s voice, it is fine, but I have to identify with his spirit, world view and intentions while playing his character. So, I don't believe in doing imitations, I feel actors should be able to present a character's viewpoint and soul on screen.”
