Sonalee Kulkarni looks determined in and as Hirkani: See poster

The makers of Prasad Oak’s Hirkani (2019) confirmed in an event in Pune yesterday that the lead actress of their film is indeed Sonalee Kulkarni. Her look was officially revealed at the Chaturshrungi temple in the city in a grand event. 

The film is based in the seventeenth century when Shivaji ruled over Raigad. It tells the story of a milkmaid named Hirkani who sells milk inside the Raigad fort, whose gates close at sunset as per strict orders from Shivaji. 

Once, Hirkani gets late at the end of day and the guard closes the gate. She pleads to the guard to open the gate for her since her child is alone at home. As he strictly refuses, Hirkani climbs down the steep mountain on which the fort is situated. 

Kulkarni was in the get-up as Hirkani at the event. She arrived in style in a palanquin. The latest poster of the film features her in a determined expression with her child. The silhouette of Shivaji in the background along with the bhagwa [saffron] flag adds an artistic value to it. 

The makers have kept the name of the actor who plays Shivaji under wraps. It will be revealed directly in the movie. 

Hirkani will be releasing on 24 October during Diwali.
