Amongst many other prestigious awards, Indraadip Dasgupta’s debut film Kedara has already received the National Award in the Special Jury category this August. Kedara’s trailer comes with the unprecedented feature of introducing the technicians’ names on it, instead of the cast.
From the trailer, it is quite apparent that Kaushik Ganguly is not only the lead actor of the film, but his character Narasingha dominates the entire feature as well, with his extraordinary skills as a ventriloquist and engulfing loneliness.
In the trailer, Narasingha can be mostly seen in dark interiors that hints to his recluse lifestyle. However, the dark corners have much more to express, which actually form the nuances of Narasingha and his world.
In a sequence, he is seen to be trying to reason with his wife (Bidipta Chakraborty) on phone, from who he has evidently separated. In some sequences, flashbacks from his childhood, fills his world with dreams.
Anirban Bhattacharya’s poetic narration beautifully gels with the transcending experience offered by the cinematic pace and look of the trailer. His words also suggest that there is a dreamy world that Narasingha carefully hides in the darkness of his interiors.
The narrative takes a turn, with the presence of an antique chair (kedara) in Narasingha’s life. However, the trailer, hardly gives out hints of the story, keeping the anticipation alive.
In the trailer, Rudranil Ghosh can be seen for a brief moment- he plays a crucial role in the narrative. Author and lyricist Srijato Bandopadhyay has written the screenplay of Kedara.
The award-winning film is slated for release on 1 November.
