Actor Inaamulhaq has bagged the award for Best Actor for his performance in the film Nakkash (2019) at the India International Film Festival of Boston. The film’s director, Zaigham Imam, was named Best Director.
Reacting to the news, Inaamulhaq said on his Facebook page, “Good news! Such news neither brings any change in my body nor in my soul. But my ‘stubbornness of following my heart’ starts dancing in full joy.”
He thanked the team of the film. “A big thanks to all four producers of Nakkash, Zaigham Imaam, Pawan Tiwari, Govind Goyal and Piyush Singh, who ignored the ‘profit-making safe game’ and showed trust in me. Thanks to my co-actors less and friends more Sharib Hashmi, Kumud Mishra and Rajesh Sharma who trusted me and became a part of Nakkash,” Inaamulhaq added.
Nakkash is the story of Allah Rakha Siddiqui, an engraver of idols in temples in Varanasi. He faces rejection from his own community because of his profession. Similarly, the temple priest, played by Kumud Mishra, faces the brunt from his own community for employing a Muslim craftsman as an engraver.
This was Zaigham Imam’s project after Dozakh: In Search Of Heaven (2015) and Alif (2017).
