Kiara Advani roped in opposite Kartik Aaryan in Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2

There was some speculation recently about Kiara Advani being roped in opposite Kartik Aaryan in Bhool Bhulaiya 2. Now, the makers have officially announced that she is indeed the film's leading lady.

Excited at bagging the film, Advani said in an official statement, “Bhool Bhulaiyaa was the first ever horror film that I watched. Being a huge fan of the first one, it’s super exciting to get the opportunity to be a part of the franchise. It’s my first time being directed by Anees sir and I’m looking forward to the experience.” 

This is also Advani's next project with T-Series after the huge success of Kabir Singh, opposite Shahid Kapoor, earlier this year. “It’s being produced by the makers of my most special film [Kabir Singh] so it feels like home working with Cine1 and T-Series again," Advani continued. "Kartik and I are working together for the first time. Can’t wait to begin this journey so we can bring the film to you soon!”

Reacting to the casting, director Anees Bazmee said, “I always look forward to working with Gen-Z actors. This is my first collaboration with Kartik and Kiara. I am sure they will bring new energy to the table. Hoping to have a blast.” 

This is the second film in the franchise after Bhool Bhulaiyaa (2007) starring Akshay Kumar, Vidya Balan and Shiney Ahuja. That film, an official remake of the Malayalam hit Manichitrathazhu (1993) starring Mohanlal, was helmed by Priyadarshan.

Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 will be going on the floors next month and is scheduled to be released on 31 July 2020.
