There was some speculation of late about Sushant Singh Rajput and Jacqueline Fernandez’s Drive being released directly on an OTT platform. Now, producer Karan Johar has confirmed that the long-delayed film will be released on Netflix and not in theatres.
Johar shared a couple of new stills from the movie from his official Twitter handle and said, “Shifting into high gear with Drive! Coming onto your Netflix screens soon.”
Drive went on the floors two years ago in October. The film was supposed to be released in March 2018. It was later pushed to September that year, then January this year, then June. But each time the film kept missing the date, giving rise to speculation about its fate.
Rajput is currently enjoying the success of Nitesh Tiwari's Chhichhore which was released earlier this month.
Drive is Mansukhani's third film as director after Dostana (2008) and Koochie Koochie Hota Hai, the animated remake of Karan Johar's directorial debut Kuch Kuch Hota Hai (1998) which was completed in 2011 but has still not been released.
