Sunny Deol might have turned MP of Gurdaspur constituency, but his past seems to be returning to haunt him. The actor, alongwith co-star Karisma Kapoor, has been fined by the Indian railways for having pulled the chain on the 2413 A Uplink Express, in 1997.
According to a Press Trust of India (PTI) report, the stars were accused by the sessions court in Jaipur, Rajasthan, of having caused a 25-minute delay. The report quoted their counsel, AK Jain, of challenging the order.
The charges were reportedly framed against Deol and Kapoor in 2009, and were challenged by them in April 2010 in a sessions court. The sessions court exonerated both stars.
But on 17 September 2019, the railway court again framed charges against them.
In addition to Deol and Kapoor, action director Tinu Verma and Satish Shah had also been named in the railway court charges. However, Verma and Shah chose not to challenge the order.
The railway court has scheduled the next hearing for the case on 24 September.
The crew had been shooting for the film, Bajrang, still unreleased, at Sanvarda village in the Ajmer district.
