Open Frame Documentary Film Festival begins in New Delhi

The 19th edition of the Open Frame Documentary Film Festival opens today at the India International Centre (IIC) in New Delhi and will continue until 24 September. The festival will showcase some of the recent productions by Public Service Broadcasting Trust (PSBT) as well as documentaries from earlier years. 

Celebrating the upcoming 20th year of PSBT, the festival has not concentrated on a single theme this year, rather choosing to explore various themes that include the love for cinema and storytelling. The ongoing festival will explore stories of the earth and water bodies and their people and the unique efforts of those fighting to preserve them, along with the histories and memories of cities and their metamorphoses.

The films will cover stories of migration, separation and loss – of people, places, stories and the self; forgotten histories and newer relationships with the past.  The engagements of artistic practices with social processes and the experiences and aspirations of those living with disability will also be shown.

The festival will engage with the documentary form, the stories they tell, the artistic and political impulses that shape them and ways in which they impact their creators and viewers.
