Awards season kicked off in Mumbai with the 20th edition of the International Indian Film Awards (IIFA). The event saw Ranveer Singh with the Best Actor trophy for his performance in Padmaavat (2018), while Alia Bhatt took home the trophy for her performance in Raazi (2018).

Hosted by Ayushmann Khurrana, the awards ceremony also saw performances by Katrina Kaif, Salman Khan, Vicky Kaushal, Sara Ali Khan and Madhuri Dixit Nene among others.
While Khurrana has been praised for his performances over the last two years, the actor missed out on the big trophies. His Andhadhun (2018) director Sriram Raghavan walked away with the Best Director award though.

While Sara Ali Khan and Ishaan Khatter won the Best Debut Female and Male awards respectively for Kedarnath (2018) and Dhadak (2018), Vicky Kaushal walked away with the award for Best Supporting Actor (Male) for Sanju (2018). Aditi Rao Hydari, meanwhile, was named the Best Supporting Actor (Female) for her performance in Padmaavat (2018).

The event also saw some stunning performances with an opening act which saw Ranveer Singh join the reality show World Of Dance winners, Kings United, on stage.
The music awards saw Arijit Singh win Best Playback Singer (Male) for 'Ae Watan' from Raazi, and Harshdeep Kaur and Vibha Saraf win the Best Playback Singer (Female) award for 'Dilbaro' from the same film. The Best Music award went to the film, Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety (2018).
Vicky Kaushal also took to the stage with some Punjabi numbers in 'Kava Kava' and the evergreen 'Gur Naal Ishq Mitha'.
As a twist, Sara Ali Khan grooved to her father Saif's iconic 'Ole Ole' from Yeh Dillagi (1994).
In addition to the regular winners, there was also a celebration of the 20 years of the festival with a bunch of special awards. Deepika Padukone was awarded the Best Actress In Last 20 years, while Rajkumar Hirani walked away with the trophy for Best Director In Last 20 Years.

Ranbir Kapoor went home with the trophy for Best Actor In Last 20 Years.
Even Hrithik Roshan had a consolation win, with his debut film, Kaho Naa Pyaar Hai... (2000) being adjudged the Best Film In Last 20 Years at the awards ceremony.
Veteran actor Jagdeep was felicitated for his Outstanding Contribution to Cinema, while choreographer Saroj Khan took home a trophy for Lifetime Achievement.
