Vasanth S Sai's Sivaranjini And Two Other Women wins Audience Award at Japan's 28th Fukuoka festival

The film is an anthology project based on the short stories of writers Jeya Mohan, the late Ashokamitran and the late Aadhavan.

While Tamil Nadu continues its focus on the next blockbuster release, Vasanth S Sai's Sivaranjini And Two Other Women won the Audience Award at the 28th Fukuoka International Film Festival in Japan. The film had its premiere at the 20th Mumbai Film Festival in 2018 before going on to be screened at the International Film Festival of Kerala (IFFK) as well.

Vasanth S Sai, the director, accepted the award from the festival director, Haruki Yasuhiro, and chairman of festival committee, Kubota Isao, on the closing night of the festival. 

Featuring Parvathy Thiruvothu, Lakshmi Priya Chandramouli and Kalieswari Srinivasan, the film is an anthology of shorts based on the stories of famous Tamil writers Jeya Mohan, the late Ashokamitran and the late Aadhavan. 

The film revolves around three women in different eras and portrays the constant discrimination against them through these times. 

Sivaranjini And Two Other Women was shown at the Fukuoka festival on 15 September, and has two other screenings today and tomorrow.
