Actor Harish Dudhade will be playing the important character of Bahirji Naik in director Digpal Lanjekar’s Fatteshikast (2019). This is the actor's second historical drama after Farzand (2018), also directed by Lanjekar.
Naik was a spy in Shivaji’s army and one of his closest aides. He was known for convincingly changing get-ups and impersonating different individuals in order to gather information about their enemies and their next ploys. His inputs had a large hand in helping Shivaji establish his empire. In other words, the character offers a lot of shades.
Dudhade, known for his work in Marathi television serials, is happy to have landed this role. "I am fortunate to have got a chance to play the character of Bahirji Naik. It is a challenge for every actor to get to play different types of characters. It is a matter of joy for me to have got a chance to play such a character in Fatteshikast," the actor said in an official statement.
In Lanjekar’s Farzand, the character of Naik was played by actor-filmmaker Prasad Oak who was appreciated for his performance. He has been replaced by Dudhade in Fatteshikast. Incidentally, Oak's next film, Hirkani (2019) also involves Shivaji.
In Fatteshikast, Chinmay Mandlekar will be reprising his character of Shivaji from Farzand . Interestingly, he is one of the writers in Hirkani.
Fatteshikast will be releasing on 15 November.
