Prassthanam song 'Haji Ali': The iconic mosque becomes a refuge in this Sukhwinder Singh song

The song has been composed by Vikram Montrose and written by Atique Allahabadi.

The latest song from Prassthanam (2019) features the iconic Mumbai mosque that becomes a place of refuge for Jackie Shroff’s character. The stirring number has been sung by Sukhwinder Singh who gives the song a boost with his powerful vocals.

In the visuals, a haggard Shroff is on the run from some assassins. After getting shot (though not fatally), at one point, he arrives seeking respite and refuge in the holy dargah. There, he becomes emotional and tries to heal from his wounds.

The spiritual lyrics by Atique Allahabadi and Vikram Montrose’s composition are quite passionate, but the number feels like a faint echo to the soft and soulful AR Rahman composition, ‘Piya Haji Ali’ from Fiza (2000).

As emotional as the number is, it doesn’t feel as memorable despite Singh’s solid rendition.

Prassthanam, directed by Deva Katta, is due to be released on 20 September. Watch the song below and let us know if you are keen to watch the film.
