While Anurag Kashyap has begun shooting for his short film for Ghost Stories, Karan Johar has now announced the two lead members of his cast.

Avinash Tiwary and Mrunal Thakur will play key roles in the short film for Johar, which will be part of the Netflix anthology. While Janhvi Kapoor and Vijay Varma have been roped in by Zoya Akhtar, Kashyap's film will see Shobhita Dhulipala take on the lead.

Tiwary made his debut as leading man with Laila Majnu (2018) and won critical appreciation, while Mrunal Thakur has already caught the eye with her performances in Love Sonia (2018), and more recently, with Super 30 (2019) and Batla House (2019).

The short film will also mark Karan Johar's first venture into the genre of horror. The director had previously said, "I have always been mortified to watch the horror genre and have always stayed very far away from any ghost story! Personally, it’s uncharted terrain and I couldn’t have chosen a better platform and a more eclectic collective to exhibit my fear of ghosts and ghost stories!"

Ghost Stories is produced by Netflix and RSVP Films.
