After a feature film, web-series and short film, there will be a one-hour long film based on Indian prime minister Narendra Modi. The film, titled Mann Bairagi, is co-produced by filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali.

The poster of the film was released today (17 September) on the occasion of Modi’s birthday by Akshay Kumar. It has a close-up of young boy playing Modi. One can also see him walking on a barren land.

Mann Bairagi will specifically highlight the story of Modi’s youth, which, according to the filmmaker is ‘unheard.’

Bhansali revealed the news to the daily Hindustan Times. “The story was very well-researched, and the turning point of our PM’s life as a young man, really intrigued me,” he said.

Mann Bairagi is directed by Ssanjay Tripaathy. This is his second movie after Club 60 (2013), which starred Farooq Shaikh, Sarika, Raghuvir Yadav, Satish Shah and a list of actors. “I felt that it’s an unheard story which needs to be told. For me, it’s a human interest story about the self-discovery of a person who went on to become such a strong leader of our country,” said Tripaathy.

The film is co-produced by Mahaveer Jain. Speaking about the film, he told the publication, “Mann Bairagi brings out that defining moment in the journey of our PM which has not been in public knowledge so far. I am sure it will connect and inspire our today’s youth deeply, and that’s what excited us to work on this film.”

Jain was the one who organised a few meetings between Modi and personalities from the film industry earlier this year.

Director Omung Kumar’s feature film, PM Narendra Modi (2019), starring Vivek Oberoi, released earlier this year. Umesh Shukla’s web-series Modi: Journey of a Common Man also streamed this year on Eros Now. Similarly, Mangesh Hadawale’s short film Chalo Jeete Hain (2018) was based on Modi’s childhood.
