After the Amazon Prime Video web-series Inside Edge, actor Angad Bedi is again playing a cricketer in Abhishek Sharma's The Zoya Factor (2019). For his on-screen costumes, Bedi procured his outfits from well-known Hindi film and television personality Karan Johar.
In the upcoming film, co-starring Sonam Kapoor Ahuja and Dulquer Salmaan, Bedi plays a stylish Indian cricketer, Robin, who enjoys wearing branded clothing. Bedi's stylist Abhilasha Devnani, who knows Johar well, asked the filmmaker for help.
Additionally, The Zoya Factor producers Pooja Shetty and Aarti Shetty are good friends of Johar's. So he allowed Devnani to take some of his best branded clothes for the film. Whenever Bedi's character Robin is not in uniform, he dons brands like Gucci, Ballenciaga, Tom Ford and others, all thanks to Johar.
Angad said about his look in the film, "My character needed several different looks like formals, athleisure, layers, etc. So we put together a range of high-end brands to give the character a look that would best seem fit. Karan was kind enough to allow us to source clothes from his wardrobe. He is a style icon and the character I’m playing, Robin, needed aesthetic of the fashion sense Karan has in his personal life. My producers, Aarti and Pooja Shetty, put together looks from his personal wardrobe."
Bedi's wife, Neha Dhupia, is also good friends with Johar and appeared in the Johar-directed segment of the Netflix anthology Lust Stories (2018). Bedi is also part of Johar's next production, Gunjan Saxena: The Kargil Girl (2020), where he plays brother to Janhvi Kapoor.
