The weekday collections of director Nitesh Tiwari’s Chhichhore (2019) have been extraordinary. This has ensured that the film is a success after just one week.
Starring Sushant Singh Rajput and Shraddha Kapoor, the film opened at decently with Rs7 crore and had a good jump in the next two days on the weekend. But its weekday numbers turned out to be either higher from the first day or equal to that.
After making Rs35 crore in the first weekend, Chhichhore earned Rs32 crore in the next four weekdays. It is not often that a film earns almost the same number in weekdays as it did in the weekend.
The grand total of Chhichhore currently is Rs66.75 crore. As per our trade sources, the film is made at a budget of around Rs50 crore. Hence, after the mega success of his last film Dangal (2016), Tiwari is staring at another winner.
Dream Girl (2019), starring Ayushmann Khurrana, has released today to a positive response by the critics. It will be interesting to see if the release of this film affects Chhichhore in its second weekend.
Meanwhile, Jagan Shakti's multi-starrer Mission Mangal (2019) finished its fourth week at Rs192.49 crore. The film doesn’t stand much chance of reaching a double century but it is already a success.
