MAMI 2019: Khanaur, Bombay Rose, Aamis to feature in India Gold section


The films will be among 10 Indian films included in the competition section of the upcoming 21st Mumbai Film Festival.

With film festival season around the corner, the list of films competing in this year's India Gold section of the 21st Mumbai Film Festival is out. They include Bhaskar Hazarika's Aamis, Gitanjali Rao's Bombay Rose, Pushpendra Singh's Maru Ro Moti, and Prateek Vats's Eeb Allay Oo! 

Among the key films to premiere at the festival will be Pushpendra Singh's Maru Ro Moti, Achal Mishra's Gamak Ghar, and Saurav Rai's Nimtoh. 

The India Gold section will be a selection of films that represent a celebration of India's cultural diversity. The section will also witness the India premiere of Gitanjali Rao's Bombay Rose, which premiered at the Venice International Film Festival and opened the Critics' Week there recently. There will also be an India premiere for Kislay's Aise Hi. 

Speaking about the line-up this year, Smriti Kiran, artistic director of the festival, said, "India Gold is at the heart of our selection. We are an international film festival but bringing the best Indian narratives to the world and to India is at the core of our mission. Festivals from across the world have now begun to look at us as the gateway to credible Indian cinema and we take that responsibility very seriously. I am happy we are able to take the narrative forward for our storytellers a notch higher every year."

The India Gold competition section will feature films that include Archana Atul Phadke's documentary About Love, Gurvinder Singh's third film Khanaur, Gitanjali Rao's Bombay Rose, Prateek Vats's Eeb Allay Oo!, Achal Mishra's Gamak Ghar, Saurav Rai's Nimtoh, Kislay's Aise Hi, Pushpendra Singh's Maru Ro Moti, Bhaskar Hazarika's Aamis, and Yashaswini Raghunandan's The Cloud Never Left. 

The India Gold films will be watched by a jury of esteemed film personalities from around the world. The 21st Mumbai Film Festival will take place from the 17 to 24 October.
