As much as Rs350 crore was invested in the making of the Prabhas-starrer Saaho. Naturally, there were great expectations of the action thriller. After all, this was Prabhas's first film since he became a nationwide star with the mammoth success of SS Rajamouli’s Baahubali: The Conclusion (2017).
However, Saaho was panned by critics and audiences alike and as a result the film is headed for disaster at the box office. Directed by Sujeeth and co-starring Shraddha Kapoor, the film took a very good opening of Rs51 crore across all languages. However, the numbers began to slip thereafter owing to the poor reviews and negative word-of-mouth publicity. Still the film collected a respectable Rs253.17 crore nett in the first week at the domestic box office.
However, the second week has been a different story altogether, with the all-India collection dropping to a poor Rs28.75 crore nett till Tuesday. The film’s overall all-India collection till Tuesday was Rs281.92 crore nett. This would have been a great collection for any other film, but for Saaho it signifies disaster.
Surprisingly, Saaho's Hindi version has done better than the Telugu and Tamil versions. But even the Hindi version's collections saw a major fall yesterday (Wednesday) with just Rs1.75 crore nett. The numbers for the other languages are not out yet.
