The makers of Darbar on Wednesday, 11 September, released a new poster which features superstar Rajinikanth looking ferocious, with a strained look as he works out.
The poster was received with mixed reactions. While Rajinikanth’s fans had every reason to celebrate, neutral fans found the poster to be extremely silly, calling it a result of bad PhotoShop work as Rajinikanth’s head is too large for the body in the picture.
Darbar features Rajinikanth in the role of a cop. He returns to playing a police officer after 25 years in Pandian (1992). Darbar also features Nayanthara, Suniel Shetty, Nivetha Thomas, Yogi Babu and Prateik Babbar in crucial roles.
Tipped to be an investigative thriller, the entire film is being shot in Mumbai. The film was originally supposed to be bankrolled by Sun Pictures, who backed out after the controversy over Sarkar (2018) last year.
Following the exit of Sun Pictures, Lyca Productions, the makers of 2.0 (2018), took over the reins of the project and are said to have mounted the project on a lavish scale. This would be the third outing for Lyca Productions with Rajinikanth after Kaala (2018) and 2.0 (2018).
The film has music by Anirudh Ravichander while Sreekar Prasad has been roped in to take care of editing. Cinematographer Santosh Sivan has reunited with Rajinikanth after two decades for this project.
Meanwhile, there are reports doing the rounds that Rajinikanth has given his nod for his next project which will most likely be directed by H Vinoth or KS Ravi Kumar.
