Director Prasad Oak’s Hirkani is based in the time when the coronation of the Maratha king Shivaji took place. The film has a song welcoming the king to his throne. It is a grand song  that extends for almost nine minutes.

Called ‘Shivrajyabhishek Geet’, the song features a host of well-known Marathi film artistes like Suhas Joshi, Pushkar Shrotri, Siddharth Chandekar, Jitendra Joshi, Priyadarshan Jadhav, Hemant Dhome, Rajashree Thakur, Kshitee Jog and Chinmay Mandlekar playing people from different walks of life and singing the praises of Shivaji and eager to see him coronated. Everyone fits their respective characters to the T.

The song also indicates that the makers have left no stone unturned to project the story on a grand scale in terms of costume and production design. This is noticeable the most in the scenes where Shivaji is welcomed.

So, the obvious question here is who plays Shivaji. Well, the makers have kept it as a surprise and decided to reveal it only in the movie; not even in the trailer.

But ‘Shivrajyabhishek Geet’ is not just about the visuals. The audio is rich and impressive. In keeping with the concept, music composer Amitraj and lyricists Kavibhushan and Sandeep Khare have handled different genres in the same song pertaining to different characters. Although all sub-tracks are impressive, the Sufi tribute to Shivaji stands out.

The song features chorus singing by as many as 12 singers who are relatively new. They have also lived up to the occasion.

Hirkani will be released during Diwali on 24 October. Watch the song below and let us know if you are keen to watch this film.
