Hina Khan to play a blind woman in upcoming international film, Country Of Blind

The bilingual film, directed by Rahat Kazmi, is based on a short story by the popular English novelist HG Wells.

Televison actress Hina Khan, who made her debut on the red carpet at the Cannes film festival earlier this year, is preparing for her role as a blind woman in her international project, Country Of Blind, based on the HG Wells short story, The Country of the Blind. The upcoming Indo-Hollywood production will be directed by Rahat Kazmi.

Country Of Blind has been filmed in the Himalayas as a Hindi-English bilingual movie. The film is set in the 1800s and will revolve around the "inhabitants of a valley who have no vision and yet are living a fulfilled and secluded life without any attachments to the outside world," according to a press release. Khan essays the role of a blind woman for the first time in her career.

Wells's short story was first published in 1904.

Khan confirmed her involvement in the film and said, "This project is very close to my heart because whatever we did in this film has been a new benchmark and there were no examples of any kind as a reference. Everything in this film is one-of-a-kind and we hope people will love it.”

Besides Khan, actors Shoib Nikash Shah and Inaamulhaq are also cast in the film. The cast will reportedly be wearing handmade costumes in the film. The film is backed by Hollywood producer Cory Tucek and produced by Rahat Kazmi Films and Tariq Khan Productions.
