The music of Pradipta Bhattacharya’s upcoming film Rajlokhi O Srikanto was launched on 5 September at the Trum Deepo Restro Bar and Club in the presence of the director, singers Timir Biswas, Bablu Sain, Satyaki Banerjee and Sohini Chakraborty, composers Anirban Das and Tanmoy Sarkar, and actress Aparajita Ghosh Das.

Rajlokhi O Srikanto features Ritwick Chakraborty, Jyotika Jyoti and Rahul Banerjee in the primary roles.

Before the music launch there was a live performance of all the songs by the vocalists. There are seven songs in the film altogether of various genres.

The director said, “Music always holds a special interest for me. I feel music has a significant place in Indian cinema which I want to explore more through my films. The concept of background music too has been interesting in this film.”

Satyaki Banerjee, who did the background score of the film, said there is a restlessness throughout the film which he has attempted to capture in his score. “I am quite a restless person myself and that is where the connection happened. I deconstructed one rendition of Kanai Das Baul and adapted into my ideas to compose the score,” he said.

Timir Biswas said he was keen to work with Bhattacharya and Ritwick Chakraborty since Bhattacharya’s debut film Bakita Byaktigoto (2013) was released.

“I have worked with composer-lyricist Anirban-da for the first time and I am extremely fortunate to sing these two beautiful compositions," Biswas said. "Like all artistes, I also want to face challenges as a singer. Rajlokhi O Srikanto gave me that opportunity. I had to sing the songs in single takes after proper rehearsals and the songs have been kept as is without any auto-tuning.”

Rajlokhi O Srikanto is slated for release on 20 September.
