As the filming of Shakuntala Devi: Human Computer (2020) begins, Vidya Balan is visiting some hallowed halls for inspiration. The actress has been invited as a guest at Imperial College London, where the subject of her upcoming biopic, Shakuntala Devi, received her Guinness Book of World Records honour.
On 18 June 1980, the genius mathematician showed off her insane skills by demonstrating the multiplication of two 13-digit numbers picked at random by the Computer Department at Imperial College London, and correctly answered it in 28 seconds. Her effortless feat landed her a spot in the Guinness Book of World Records.
In a press release, the excited Vidya stated, “Imperial College is an integral part of Shakuntala Devi’s life, this is the same college where she got her Guinness Book of World Records achievement. I am honoured that I am getting an opportunity to go visit this institute.”
Vidya is expected to interact with students as a guest of Imperial College.
Directed by Anu Menon, Shankuntala Devi: Human Computer is produced by Sony Pictures Networks Productions and Vikram Malhotra. Sanya Malhotra also co-stars in the biopic as Shakuntala’s daughter Anupama Banerji.
