Radhika Apte has just finished shooting for her debut directorial short film, The Sleepwalkers. Produced by Honey Trehan and Abhishek Chaubey's MacGuffin Pictures, and Lalit Prem Sharma, the 33-minute film will feature Gulshan Devaiah and Shahana Goswami in the lead.

Speaking to the tabloid Mumbai Mirror, Apte said, "The Sleepwalkers, as the title goes, will set us up to reflect on our everyday actions and the expectations we have in our relationship with Mother Nature. That's important to us in a film. It should not just entertain, and tell a story but also leave you questioning and reflecting on your own action and deeds."

Speaking about her turning director, Apte said that it was a sudden decision when Honey Trehan and Chaubey decided to produce the short she was writing. She added in the quote to Mumbai Mirror, "I am learning a lot in the process and am open to the outcome."

Abhishek Chaubey and Honey Trehan's MacGuffin Pictures had also produced Konkona Sensharma's directorial debut, A Death In The Gunj (2017).

Correction, 8 June 2020: An earlier version of this report gave the film's title as Sleepwalkers. The correct title is The Sleepwalkers.
