IFFI 2019: John Bailey, Lynne Ramsay, Ramesh Sippy part of international jury

John Bailey, cinematographer and former president of the Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences, will lead the international jury at the 50th International Film Festival of India (IFFI) in Goa this year.

Bailey will be joined by Scottish filmmaker Lynne Ramsay, French filmmaker Robin Campillo, Chinese filmmaker Zhang Yang and Indian filmmaker Ramesh Sippy.

The upcoming golden jubilee edition of India's premier film festival will feature 15 films from 20 countries that will compete for the Golden Peacock award. These 15 films were selected from over 700 entries from around the world.

These include China's Balloon, Turkey's Chronology, Austria's Lillian, and Brazil's Marighella (Brazil). Sophie Deraspe’s Antigone and Mahnaz Mohammadi’s Son-Mother are also competing for the top prize.

The two Indian entries are the Marathi film Mai Ghat: Crime No 103/2005, directed by Ananth Narayan Mahadevan, and the Malayalam film Jallikattu, directed by Lijo Jose Pellissery.

The festival will be held this year from 20 to 28 November.
