Amitabh Bachchan admitted to Nanavati hospital for routine checkup


The actor is a survivor of Hepatitis B, contracted after his famed accident on the sets of Coolie (1983).

Amitabh Bachchan has been admitted to the Nanavati hospital for a routine checkup. The veteran actor had been admitted to the hospital on Tuesday, 15 October, and has been hospitalised for a more complete checkup. 

According to a Press Trust of India (PTI) report, it is a routine checkup for the actor. However, initial reports had suggested that the actor had been complaining of liver issues. 

Bachchan had contracted Hepatitis B, owing to complications from his blood transfusion after his accident on the sets of Coolie (1982). The disease resulted in damage to 75% of the actor's liver. However, Bachchan has been undergoing regular checkups. 

While the PTI report stated that the actor had been admitted on Tuesday. The report quoted a hospital source saying, "Mr Bachchan had come for a routine checkup." However, the source also added that the actor was still under observation. 

Despite that, the actor's social media page has seen some active engagement. 

He even posted his wishes for the festive occassion of Karva Chauth, with a picture of himself with actress wife Jaya Bachchan. 

The actor had also recently celebrated his 77th birthday with friends and family. 

Amitabh Bachchan has currently finished shooting for Chehre (2020), where he will be seen alongside Emraan Hashmi. The actor also has Gulaabo Sitabo (2020) opposite Ayushmann Khurrana in the pipeline for next year.
