After writing and directing, Kangana Ranaut is set to turn producer with the launch of her home production in January. The actress confirmed that work is ongoing on the offices and scripts, and will be announced in the coming year.
In an interview to the newspaper Mid-Day, the actress said, "My office will be ready by January. Simultaneously, we are readying our projects. There are so many good scripts that come my way and the [makers] want me to feature in them. But there is so much new talent that needs to be given a platform. It’s important that these powerful scripts don’t get lost and make it to the big screen."
The production house will be called Manikarnika Films, in memory of Ranaut's debut directorial venture, Manikarnika:The Queen of Jhansi (2018).
However, the actress added that she will avoid acting in the films that she produces. She said, "I won't be acting in the films that I produce. There is a lot of talent around and I will hire actors who are perfect for the scripts. I will take new talent under my wing and guide them."
The actress is currently working to finish Dhaakad (2020), an action-thriller which is set to release next year. She has also finished work on Ashwiny Iyer Tiwari's Panga (2020), where she features alongside Richa Chadha. Ranaut will also be playing the late J Jayalalithaa in the biopic, Thalaivi, which is also due to released next year.
The actress also confirmed that she will begin work on her next directorial venture post Dhaakad. Back in May 2017, the actress had spoken about her maiden directorial venture, Teju. The film was put on the sidelines when Ranaut took over the reins for Manikarnika:The Queen of Jhansi.
