Suman Ghosh’s Aadhaar is heading to the Aloha state, Hawaii, next month. It will be screened in the Spotlight on India section of the festival on 16 and 17 November. Gitanjali Rao's Bombay Rose and Vikas Khanna's The Last Color will also be screened in the same category.
Starring Vineet Kumar Singh, the film is about a man who becomes the first in his village in Jharkhand to get an Aadhaar card in 2011. Aadhaar has already had its world premiere at the Busan International Film Festival and will have its Indian premiere at the 21st Mumbai Film Festival.
When the film premiered at Busan, Singh had said, "I was really surprised with the reaction of the audience towards the film, because somehow, the film is deeply connected with the ground realities of our country, and Indians will easily be able to relate to it.
“But to see an international audience glued to their seats till the end, and understand the nitty-gritty was a heart-warming experience. Even in the question and answer session, their observations were very insightful. Many of them were also keen to know about my preparation for the role, since the character is unique,” he continued.
Besides Aadhaar, the actor can be seen in the Netflix web-series Bard of Blood, and will star alongside Taapsee Pannu and Bhumi Pednekar in the biopic Saand Ki Aankh next week.
