Huma Qureshi named one of Film Independent’s New Wave Actors

Actress Huma Qureshi, who is currently in Los Angeles, USA, filming Netflix’s Army Of The Dead (2020), has been named on Film Independent’s New Wave Actors list.

The Gangs Of Wasseypur 2 (2012) actress will also be invited in conversation as one of the five breakout talents singled out by the non-profit organization.

According to their website, “The New Wave Actors highlights a diverse group of talented actors, selected by Film Independent and SAGindie, who continue to deliver breakout performances and deserve industry recognition.”

Besides Qureshi, actor Asante Blackk and actresses Olivia Cheng, Dawn-Lyen Gardner, and Lauren “Lolo” Spencer have also been selected. Qureshi will be in conversation at the New Wave program on 20 October. 

The Indian actress was recently seen in the Netflix web-series Leila, directed by Deepa Mehta, and had the lead role in Gurinder Chadha’s Viceroy’s House (2017). She has a key role in Zack Synder’s zombie action film with Dave Bautista and Ana de la Reguera which is due to be released in 2020.
