Debamitra Biswal’s Motichoor Chaknachoor features its leads as an unlikely couple. Nawazuddin Siddiqui is Pushpinder Tyagi, a 36-year-old bachelor who desires to get married to practically anyone. Meanwhile, Athiya Shetty is Anita ‘Annie’ Awasthi who wants a non-resident Indian (NRI) as a husband, mainly so she can leave the country.

When Annie spies her Dubai-return neighbour, she jumps at the opportunity. There is a considerable age difference between the two, but Annie is desperate to escape. The couple make a hasty decision to wed, and then comes the big reveal, Pushpinder has lost his job in Dubai.

What future awaits the couple now? Will Annie ever get to go abroad? Or will Pushpinder’s brief marriage end in divorce? The trailer offers no answers for now.

Siddiqui and Shetty, paired for the first time, make for an improbable couple. Shetty towers over Siddiqui in certain scenes and seems a bit out of place in the small-town setting. Siddiqui, on the other hand, seems quite at home in this space.

The comedy, written by Debamitra Hassan, is due to be released on 15 November. Watch the trailer below and let us know if you are keen to watch the film.
