The last scene of Rohit Shetty’s Simmba (2018), starring Ranveer Singh, featuread an announcement of his next cop film Sooryavanshi, which stars Akshay Kumar in the lead. Shetty’s hero from his Singham series Ajay Devgn had an impactful cameo in Simmba.
Naturally, there was speculation if the three stars would be seen together in Sooryavanshi. During the interviews for his last film, Mission Mangal (2019), Akshay had revealed that Devgn and Singh will indeed play cameos in Sooryavanshi.
Now, the makers have released a still from the movie where the trio of Kumar, Devgn and Singh – dressed as Sooryavanshi, Singham and Simmba – are posing together.
The image was shared by Akshay Kumar on social media. He captioned it, "The desi Avengers of the Cop universe! When Bajirao ‘Singham’ meets Sangram ‘Simmba’ Bhalerao meets Veer Sooryavanshi, expect not just fireworks but a full-blown blast on 27 March 2020."
While Devgn and Singh have their backs to us, Kumar is looking straight in the camera with a determined expression. It’s a dashing image with a lot of style. Also, for the fans of Shetty’s cop universe, the excitement of seeing all three cop characters together just went several notches higher!
Singham and Simmba dealt with tough cops pitted up against local gangsters of Maharashtra. But Sooryavanshi takes the game higher as Kumar’s character will deal with international terrorists as an Anti-Terror Squad (ATS) officer. This isn’t a surprise since Kumar’s name has become synonymous with films with nationalistic sentiments.
Sooryavanshi, also starring Katrina Kaif and Neena Gupta, is due to be released on 27 March 2020.
