Priyanka Chopra and Farhan AKhtar take to the dance floor with Zaira Wasim joining them in the latest song from The Sky Is Pink. Titled 'Pink Gulaabi Sky' the song is a joyride by Pritam, with its composition taking up a very pop rhythm that is enjoyable to say the least. Sung by Shashwat Singh and Jonita Gandhi, the song has lyrics by Gulzar.
While the story of The Sky Is Pink revolves around the life of a young girl (played by Zaira Wasim), the songs from the film have been uplifting and light in their feels. The latest one follows the same pattern with its impressive pop-rock riff. The setting for the song seems to be a family wedding celebration that the four are a part of. While there is joy and happiness all around, there is also enough ocassion for dancing.
Zaira Wasim plays the young girl who is the centre of attention for the entire family. Adored by her mother (played by Priyanka Chopra) and father (Farhan Akhtar), she even takes to the stage with the family as they perform.
The song itself is a wonderful peppy composition by Pritam. From its first note, the song has a fast tempo and movement that is irresistible. While it feels a little jaded, the sight of the constant movement in the visuals compliments the song structure.
Jonita Gandhi and Shashwat Singh bring a verve and energy through their vocals to Pritam's composition. The energy to the song is also brought through the piano and the clarinets used in the song. The trombones and bass add to the dimensions of the song.
Needless to say, Gulzar dives into the abstracts to find descriptions for the life and joy that the little girl embodies for her parents. From 'chingari si ladki' to 'rainbow ke makaan' and 'taaron ke jahaan', the lyricist constructs a world to describe the wonderful little qualities of the heroine.
The Sky Is Pink is directed by Shonali Bose and is set to release on 11 October. Watch the song below and let us know if you are keen to watch the film.
