Ayushmann Khurrana is not the only one dealing with hair problems these days. After the actor's quirky take on premature balding, Bala (2019), had its teaser release, the subject has now been taken up by Abhishek Pathak for his next, Ujda Chaman.
The film, featuring Sunny Singh in the lead, revolves around a young, bald man's search for love in a very biased world. The trailer is quirky, hilarious, and a little too on the point at times, but is nonetheless effective.
Singh plays Chaman Kohli, a 30-year-old teacher struggling to keep pace with the fast changing world around him. While his friends have all moved into marriage and relationships, Kohli is constantly facing belittlement and insults owing to his baldness. From his curmudgeonly father to the principal in his college who overstates his age, Kohli is surrounded by overly critical people.
No matter where he goes, the moniker of 'Ujda Chaman' goes with him. Whether he finds the girl of his dreams in Maanvi Gagroo's character, or does life continue as it does remains the story of the film.
Directed by Abhishek Pathak, the trailer bears a passing resemblance with Raj B Shetty's Kannada film, Ondu Motteya Kathe (2018).
The film's release date of 8 November also pits it against Ayushmann Khurrana's upcoming Bala, which is set to release on 15 November. With two films dealing with similar subjects, it might be interesting to see how it pans out.
