Filmmaker Vikram Bhatt’s upcoming film Ghost (2019) is inspired by a newspaper article wherein a British court allowed a case involving spirits to be tried. The supernatural film is right up the filmmaker’s alley. He has previously made films like Raaz (2002) and 1920 (2008).
Bhatt said his belief in the supernatural is where he gets his love for the genre from.
“When I read the article, it sparked a whole lot of questions and I knew at that instant this had to be a film," he said. "It is definitely the scariest film I have ever made. I personally believe in ghosts, ghost stories and supernatural powers. Maybe it’s the hidden reason why I like this genre so much and we have pushed our boundaries with this one. I’m looking forward to the viewers’ experience with the story.”
Ghost follows the story a husband, Karan Khanna, accused of murdering his wife. Karan believes a spirit has killed her.
Produced by Vashu Bhagnani, the film stars Sanaya Irani and Shivam Bhaargava. Ghost is due to be released on 18 October.
